4. Match the Interviewer's Tone However, just because you killed the beginning and end of the interview doesn't mean you can ignore your tone during the middle. Unfortunately, introverts can sometimes come across as bored, standoffish, distant, unenthusiastic, and so on. We're not trying to—from our perspective, we're calm and thoughtful. To make sure this discrepancy doesn't happen during an interview, subtly copy the interviewer. Is she using lots of gestures? Amp up your own motions. Is he telling jokes? Give your answers some levity. Is her tone professional and courteous? Follow suit. Here's a hack: It also helps if you mirror his or her body language —without going overboard, of course. If you take your cues from the person you're speaking with, you're almost guaranteed to hit the proper note. 5. Mention That You're Introverted Tons of people are introverted; in fact, your interviewer may be an introvert as well! Hiding the fact you are one can land you in an office where you're not a good fit.
Being on camera makes everyone nervous. It also is tricky because you can easily make mistakes. Online interviews using Skype, Zoom, or Go-To-My-Meeting have been popular in specific industries, especially for colleges and universities, for quite a while. Online or video interviews can present a new challenge to the job hunter, especially if they are over 40 and have never used this technology. Here are 7 tips to help you excel in your online interviews. Ask in advance all the details about this format. What format will they be using? How long will the interview be? What online service are they using? How many people will be there interviewing you? Don't expect the interviewer to volunteer much, so ask and call back a second time if you need clarification. Use your desktop or laptop but not your phone. Phone connections can more easily drop the call and not have good reception when you want it most.
That said, the interviews (I had 3) were a fair assessment of my skills and experience. First I had a phone interview with the hiring manager, then an in person interview with the hiring manager and then a group interview with stakeholders. I think that I got the job offer almost a month and a half after my final interview. I love working at WakeMed and I am glad that I was able to wait for everything to align so that I could take this position. Pros Supportive colleagues, fun working environment Cons Insurance is not awesome 😒 Got covid as a staffing nurse and the manager did not want to pay me anything at first even though the company policy says otherwise. Even though a front line healthcare worker, they tried to pay me as little as possible for the days I was out due to covid. They had all these "grey area" reasons for why but It shouldn't be that way. As a healthcare worker right now you should not have to fight for a paycheck if you are out because you test positive for covid. They should have more support for their staff.
