My desire to take a course in adult nursing was established after my first work placement at a nursing home where I later acquired a paid job as a domestic care assistant.

Nonetheless, having learned modules such as: health promotion, public health and well-being, factors affecting human health, health research method, work-based practice, psychology, sociology, mathematics and English language, has helped me to improve my problem solving and critical thinking skills as well as helping me to apply these skills to everyday situation. At the moment, I am doing GCSE English language, Mathematics and also working full time. To reduce the stress that studying, working and managing a family brings, I strongly believe that the person must be motivated, know how to manage their time and be able to work well under pressure. This are some of the qualities I have gained from my study skills module at college while studying an access course and working and I strongly believe are vital qualities a good nurse should have. Outside work commitment, I like to spend some quality time with my family and in the evenings I like to spend my quiet time listening to music or reading books.
I have sought to further my scientific body of knowledge through taking a university-level course through the Monmouth Science Initiative and through the A Level in Psychology that I am currently taking. I was instinctively eager to join the working world as soon as I was old enough to do so, and as a result I have accrued a wide range of professional experiences. I started out by working part-time as a customer assistant at a branch of WHSmith. I enjoyed taking on extra responsibilities throughout my time with the company, for example training new staff and handling takings. I gained an experience of working in a high-pressure environment through working in the call centre of a large brewing company, where I was required to resolve queries in a professional and accurate manner within a short timeframe. I now balance my current study commitments with working as an administrator at a law firm, and through this position I have gained proficiency in completing complex paperwork. As a release from these responsibilities I enjoy reading and socialising with my friends.
